Product Overview

Textile-grade high-hydrogen silicone oil (CAS: 63148-57-2) is specifically formulated for water-repellent finishing of cotton, polyester, nylon, and blended fabrics. With hydrogen content >1.58%, Si-H bonds react with fiber surface hydroxyl groups under organic tin or platinum catalysis to form a crosslinked silicone film that lowers surface tension, causing water to bead and roll off without wetting the fabric. Treated fabrics retain breathability and soft hand feel without yellowing or affecting dye fastness.

Compared to the general-purpose grade, the textile grade places particular emphasis on acid value control (<5 ppm) and low-molecular-weight volatiles, preventing fabric yellowing and equipment oil staining during high-temperature curing. The low-acid-value formulation protects dye color fastness, making it ideal for outdoor apparel, sportswear, and home textiles where strict color appearance requirements apply. Typical working bath concentration is 20–60 g/L with good bath stability, compatible with fluorescent brighteners, softeners, and PU resin finishes in the same bath.

Guolan New Materials produces textile-grade high-hydrogen silicone oil under our ISO 9001:2015-certified system. Every batch includes additional color stability testing and compatibility testing with common finishing agents. We provide end-to-end technical support from formulation recommendations to process scale-up, helping dyeing and finishing mills optimize pad-dry-cure processes to achieve AATCC 22 spray ratings of 90–100.

Key Strengths

  • Textile-Specific Yellowing-Free Formulation - Acid value strictly controlled below 5 ppm with low-volatile design. No yellowing during high-temperature curing (140–160°C) and no impact on dye color fastness. Especially suitable for water-repellent finishing of white and light-colored fabrics.
  • High Hydrogen Content for Efficient Water Repellency - Hydrogen content >1.58% delivers high crosslink density. At just 30 g/L bath concentration, achieves AATCC 22 spray rating 90–100, fabric hydrostatic head of 150–300 mm, and water absorbency <20%.
  • Preserves Fabric Hand Feel & Breathability - The crosslinked silicone film is thin and flexible. Treated fabrics remain soft and vapor-permeable without a "plastic" feel. By adjusting hydrogen content and catalyst dosage, the balance between water repellency and hand feel can be tailored.
  • Excellent Process Compatibility - Can be co-applied in the same bath with fluorescent brighteners, amino silicone softeners, and PU resin finishes. Standard pad-dry-cure process is compatible, and spray or foam application methods are also supported across multiple dyeing and finishing lines.
  • Full Technical Support - Our technical team provides formulation recommendations, catalyst selection (DBTDL organic tin or platinum), process parameter optimization, and troubleshooting. We support customers from laboratory trials through full-scale production.

FAQ

Q: Do you provide technical support for textile finishing process development?

A: Yes. Our technical team specializes in pad-dry-cure process optimization for water-repellent finishing. We assist with catalyst selection (DBTDL organic tin or platinum), bath concentration tuning, wet pick-up adjustment, and cure temperature/time calibration - from lab beaker trials through full-scale production runs.

Q: Can you help validate compatibility with my existing finishing chemicals?

A: Absolutely. We provide compatibility testing with common textile auxiliaries including fluorescent brighteners, amino silicone softeners, and PU resin finishes. Send us your current formulation and process parameters, and our team will recommend a compatible bath recipe to avoid trial-and-error on the production line.

Q: What is the typical lead time for textile-grade orders?

A: Standard in-stock textile-grade product ships within 5–7 business days. For OEM private-label packaging or viscosity-adjusted custom grades, lead time is 15–25 business days. We maintain safety stock for regular customers to support urgent reorders during peak finishing seasons.

Q: Will this cause yellowing on white or light-colored fabrics?

A: No. Our textile-grade formulation strictly controls acid value below 5 ppm and minimizes low-molecular-weight volatiles. During high-temperature curing (140–160°C), there is no observable yellowing on white, pastel, or dyed fabrics. Dye color fastness is not affected, making this grade suitable for outdoor apparel, sportswear, and light-colored home textiles.

Q: What bath concentration and application process do you recommend?

A: Typical working bath concentration is 20–60 g/L with catalyst (e.g., DBTDL at 0.5–2% on weight of oil). Standard pad-dry-cure: pad to 60–80% wet pick-up, dry at 100–110°C for 2–3 minutes, then cure at 140–160°C for 1–3 minutes. At 30 g/L bath, AATCC 22 spray rating reaches 90–100 on cotton.

Q: Can it be applied together with softeners or other finishes?

A: Yes. This grade is designed for same-bath compatibility with fluorescent brighteners, amino silicone softeners, and PU resin finishes. We recommend a small-scale compatibility test before full-batch production to confirm no destabilization, flocculation, or performance loss when combined with your specific auxiliaries.

Why Choose Guolan New Materials?

  • Textile-Specific No-Yellowing Formulation - Acid value controlled below 5 ppm with low-volatile design ensures zero yellowing during high-temperature curing (140–160°C). Color fastness on white, pastel, and dyed fabrics remains unchanged - a critical advantage for premium apparel and home textile customers.
  • High-Efficiency Water Repellency at Low Dosage - Hydrogen content >1.58% delivers high crosslink density. At only 30 g/L bath concentration, it achieves AATCC 22 spray rating 90–100, fabric hydrostatic head 150–300 mm, and water absorbency below 20%. Lower dosage means lower cost per finished meter of fabric.
  • Proven Same-Bath Compatibility - Formulated to co-apply stably with fluorescent brighteners, amino silicone softeners, and PU resin finishes in a single pad bath. This reduces processing steps, saves energy, and simplifies production line operations compared to multi-stage separate application.
  • Full Process Support from Lab to Production - Our textile technical team provides catalyst selection guidance, pad-dry-cure parameter optimization, and on-site troubleshooting. We support customers from initial R&D trials through scale-up and routine manufacturing, minimizing production start-up risk.
  • Flexible Supply for Dyeing Mills - Available in 200L drums and 1000L IBC totes, with OEM private label printing for mills that distribute finished fabric under their own brand. 5,000-ton annual capacity ensures uninterrupted supply even during peak finishing seasons.
