Water treatment agents is a collective term for all chemicals used in water treatment-whether for sewage or industrial applications-aimed at removing harmful contaminants to ensure water quality meets environmental discharge and industrial usage standards.

Also known as water treatment chemicals or reagents, these agents include biocides and algaecides, corrosion and scale inhibitors, disinfectants, cleaning agents, flocculants, oxidizing agents, reverse osmosis (RO) scale inhibitors, scale-inhibiting dispersants, pre-filming agents, and more.

Common water treatment agents include:

Inorganic flocculants: Polyaluminum chloride (PAC), polyferric sulfate, ferrous sulfate, aluminum sulfate, aluminum chloride, polysilicates, magnesium chloride, potassium ferrate, etc.

Organic flocculants: Polyacrylamide (PAM), chitosan flocculants, cationic polyamines, cationic dicyandiamide polymers, sodium alginate, polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (polyDADMAC), etc.
